CURRICULUM

Islamic philosophy emphasises that education must be for the holistic development of the individual and of society.  At Hujjat Primary school, we also recognise the National Curriculum as the national benchmark for excellence in all schools.

Our commitment to outstanding academic achievement therefore goes hand-in-hand with the nurture of values, which underpin the development of good character ("akhlaq").

The learning journey will grow mind, body and character through:

  • A broad, balanced, vibrant and inclusive core curriculum that fosters curiosity and outstanding academic achievement.
  • Experiential teaching, enrichment activities that are a feast for the senses, and focused time on health, hygiene, nutrition, personal and social skills.
  • A values curriculum through which we will develop the virtues of good character, enabling our pupils to apply their knowledge and turn it into action for the benefit of our school and the wider community.

Hujjat Primary embodies high expectations, high standards, and will enable children to engage with local, national and international initiatives that will reflect the diversity in our community.

The phonics scheme Hujjat Primary School use is Letters and Sounds.

PUPIL PREMIUM

The Government gives schools extra funding to help improve outcomes for disadvantaged children and other pupils who need extra support. Each year we will publish our pupil premium strategy stating :

  • how much has been received
  • details of the main barriers to educational achievement that the disadvantaged children in our school face
  • how we will spend the pupil premium funding to overcome these barriers and the reasons for the approach we have chosen
  • how we will measure the effect of the pupil premium
  • the date of our next pupil premium strategy review

PE & SPORTS PREMIUM

The government is spending over £450 million on improving physical Education (PE) and sport in primary schools. The funding must be used to fund improvements to the provision of PE and sport, so they develop healthy lifestyles.  Once we receive this funding we will publish:

  • how much PE and sport premium funding we received for the academic year
  • a full breakdown of how we've spent or will spend the funding this year
  • the effect of the premium on pupils’ PE and sport participation and attainment
  • how we will make sure these improvements are sustainable
  • when the school has Year 6 pupil we will let you know how many pupils within our Year 6 cohort can do each of the following:
    • swim competently, confidently and proficiently over a distance of at least 25 metres
    • use a range of strokes effectively
    • perform safe self-rescue in different water-based situation
