Music Vision
At Hujjat Primary School, we aim to develop a sense of musical creativity and self-expression, building their listening skills and deepening their understanding and application of musical concepts and vocal skills in an exciting and innovative way, in line with the ethos and values of the school.
How we learn Music
Music is taught where by the core concepts, knowledge, skills and vocabulary such as understanding pitch, dynamics, tempo, timbre, texture, structure and notation are taught and appraised through vocal nasheed sessions and Quranic recitations. Each nasheed we explore links to a verse of the Quran and is reflected on for its words as well as the musical concepts it demonstrates.
How we deliver the Curriculum
Across all year groups, children listen and reflect on a variety of nasheeds and quranic recitations in various melodies, developing their listening, composing and performing techniques as well as an understanding of musical terminology and concepts that underly these recitation techniques.
Chilren participate in a weekly session where a musical concept is taught, identified in Quranic recitations and nasheeds and applied in a vocal practice. Children work together to compose and perform vocal pieces using the concepts they have learnt.
