Computing at Hujjat Primary
At Hujjat Primary, our Computing curriculum is designed to spark curiosity, build resilience, and nurture confident digital citizens. Children explore, practise and apply computational knowledge and skills in meaningful ways as they move through the school, developing the problem-solving mindsets they will use well beyond the classroom.
We use Google Classroom with pupils and Microsoft Teams with staff to support communication, organisation and high-quality learning. Google Classroom forms a key part of our home-learning strategy, helping children learn to use digital tools responsibly and independently. Our teachers are committed to becoming confident digital users themselves so they can model creative, safe and effective use of technology.
Our Computing Vision
Our Computing curriculum, supported by Kapow Primary resources, equips children with the creative, critical and technical skills they need to participate safely and successfully in a rapidly evolving digital world. We teach pupils not only how technology works, but how to think when using it.
Children learn to recognise that not everything online is true, to question information, and to make thoughtful choices about what they see and share. These critical thinking skills help them navigate misinformation and understand the impact of technology on real life.
Computing encourages pupils to explore ideas, make connections across learning, and develop transferable skills valuable for future careers, from coding and design to communication, data handling and online collaboration. We help children see how technology shapes everyday family life and the working world, from medicine and engineering to creative industries and environmental science.
How We Deliver the Curriculum
We follow the Early Years Framework and the National Curriculum for Key Stages 1 and 2, supported by a clear progression of skills that builds knowledge step by step. Our bespoke progression document ensures children revisit and deepen key concepts over time, developing secure understanding and practical competence.
High-quality professional development enables staff to teach Computing with confidence and relevance. We also offer regular opportunities for families and the wider community to engage with supportive workshops on remote learning platforms, digital literacy, and online safety.
Online safety is embedded throughout the curriculum and shaped by the needs of our children and community. We teach pupils how to stay safe, how to protect their personal information, and how to act responsibly and respectfully online. This includes exploring real-life scenarios, recognising risk, understanding both the positive and negative influences of technology, and learning what to do if something worries them.
