The Trust Board of Hujjat Primary School is inviting nominations for the post of Parent Trustee. Nominations can be submitted by anyone with parental responsibility for a student currently registered at the school. If more nominations are received than we have vacancies, a ballot will be held.
The Board of Trustees is responsible for both the conduct of the school and for promoting the high standards that we expect for, and from, our pupils. The Board carries out its role by setting the vision for the school and then ensuring that the school works efficiently and effectively towards achieving its vision. It does this by building a thorough knowledge of the school and its community, by supporting and constructively challenging school leaders, and by ensuring accountability and compliance.
All individual Trustees on the Board are appointed/elected with one common purpose - to govern the school in the best interests of the pupils. Parent Trustees do not represent the parent body, but are expected to use their individual skills and experience to contribute to the work of the Board.
All trustees must be prepared to adopt the Nolan principles of public life: selflessness, integrity, objectivity, accountability, openness, honesty and leadership. The role of a trustee is voluntary and therefore is not paid.
The Trust Board of Hujjat Primary School currently has 6 trustees, appointed based on their skills and experience. Please click here for more information.
Being a trustee is a challenging but hugely rewarding role. It will give you the chance to make a valuable contribution to children’s education, opportunities and futures and to develop your skills in a board-level environment. You will also be joining the largest volunteer force in the country: currently there are over a quarter of a million volunteers governing state funded schools in England.
Trustees do not need be experts in the field of education but will need the necessary skills, character and time to contribute.
Skills that would be advantageous to have are: the ability to build relationships with a range of people, to be able to work as part of a team, to be able to question, be discreet, open minded & fair and to make connections between different types of information.
Schools benefit from having a range of professional knowledge on their Board. We are particularly interested in candidates with experience in or background of accounting & finance, health & safety and public relations.
A Parent Trustee will serve for a term of two years. In each academic year the Board of Trustees will meet at least 4 times during the year, with the meetings starting at 4:30pm and usually lasting for 2.5 hours. Additionally there are committee meetings or panels that you may be required to attend. There is also a commitment to complete regular training, particularly in the area of safeguarding and child protection. The Board will provide you with a structured induction and a mentor who will be able to support and guide you through the first few months.
If you would like to find out more about the role of parent trustee please feel free to email us on info@hujjatschool.org.

The nomination form should be returned by Monday 8th March – due to the Pandemic we would prefer that nomination forms are submitted using Google forms using this link https://forms.gle/Q6Rnu3Sm7bg97EMAA
